Willcox, AZ. February 2019
2019 began with optimism and a new driver for the team, Matt. Unfortunately just days before the first race at Willcox Matt had laser surgery on his eye and doctor's orders prevented him from driving. So we were back down to just Rick and Timon. Enter David, stage left. At the very last minute David stepped in and from that day on we have a full four driver team, all partners in the car.
Willcox itself was fairly interesting, not least of all towing the car through blizzards in Tucson, the most snow they had had there since the late 19th Century! The race itself started with almost an hour behind the pace car, ensuring all the snow was at least gone from the track surface. But put a wheel an inch of and you were snow ploughing!
High Plains, CO. May 2019
Later that year the new Gang of Four ventured to new heights and a new circuit for the team, High Plains Raceway in Colorado. The weather here played a big part too, with some amazing storms rolling in in the afternoons, high winds and rain.
We had some issues when Judge Phil decided he didn't like our fuel system even though we'd run with it in that configuration for more than half a dozen races. So we spent considerable time in the pits, rerouting and testing the new setup.
Despite everything, we took the chequered flag and the car was seriously quick and a lot of fun to drive. The circuit itself was
